The Miss Pendants by Davide Groppi creates an intimate atmosphere at the dining table. Table and chairs: Camerich; Wallpaper: Kit Miles
The overall scheme is kept neutral with pops of bold patterns and colours to add character and joy. The extravagant, Baroque-inspired wallpaper by Kit Miles juxtaposes with the contemporary furniture, while the gold ceiling introduces warmth and glamour into the otherwise white box.
We integrated the kitchen and living space by giving the kitchen a more elegant feeling, with mirror splash backs, darker colours and dramatic lighting. Inspired by Japanese interiors, we used a sliding slatted panel so the kitchen can be at least partially concealed when required.
Dan is sitting comfortably on the Reno Swivel Chair by BoConcept. The exquisite lace voiles from Timorous Beasties soften the view of the city and compliment the Europa wallpaper on the opposite wall perfectly.
Character and drama in the principal bedroom by layering, clashing patterns and textures using a floral mural from Tektura, and an eclectic mix of style with mother of pearl bedside tables, boucle footstool and silk and brass wall lights. The maroon velvet bed pulled the whole scheme together.
The sophisticated guest bedroom is painted in Aquamarine by Little Greene, paired with furniture by Swoon Editions and pendants by West Elm.
Another angle in the guest bedroom. The smart chest of drawers is by Made.

Designers Statement

Putting a little soul into a new build, this pied-à-terre is a real treat for the owners and their family.

Part of an excellent modern development in Whitechapel London, the challenge was to give this new home some character. We also tackled the inevitable in compact London apartments that the kitchen being part of the living space. By introducing bold use of colours and patterns into this white box while channelling the Japanese’s philosophy of spatial planning, this little gem is always ready to entertain or provide a homely retreat after a day out.
